I’m Paul from Camping Downunder, and I’ve been sharing my passion for camping and 4WD adventures for over seven years. What started as weekly snapshots on Instagram quickly grew into something bigger—I wanted to help people in a way that photos alone couldn’t capture. So, I launched my YouTube channel over five years ago, diving into 4WD accessory installations, product reviews, and, eventually, my own camping and touring adventures.
After a lifetime exploring South Australia’s rugged landscapes, I found myself drawn to Western Australia’s breathtaking South West. A few years back, I took a three-week trip for the 4WD show, and from the moment I hit the coast, I knew this was home. With a leap of faith, I sold everything, packed up my 1989 Hilux, and made the move west.
Recently, I’ve been busy building my ultimate setup—a 2024 Hilux extra cab, fitted with the lightweight X-Series chassis-mounted canopy—which now gives me the confidence to take on even bigger solo trips, knowing I have a reliable setup that can take me anywhere.
