‘The Big Lap’

Hi there! 👋

We’re Matty & Em – overlanders, campers, adventure seekers, content creators and lovers of the outdoors. Together we created Borderland Explorers to document our travels and share the adventures we experience on the road. 

We started with a lap of Aus back in 2021 in a trusty old Landcruiser and completely fell in love with traveling this incredible country. So, we are back at it again! We reckon the only thing better than spending a year on the road is spending a second year on the road! 

This time, we have converted a brand new bare-bones Isuzu DMAX into our ultimate overlanding tourer. We have built this thing from the ground up ready to tackle anything that the Australian landscape can throw at us. We love exploring incredible coastlines, tackling epic 4x4 tracks, driving through deserts, and camping in some of the most remote spots in this country!

THE ISUZU D-MAX

Our Isuzu DMAX gets a Pedders Suspension GVM Upgrade to 3450kg along with Pedders TrakRyder eXtreme Upper Control Arms so we can carry the payload we need on our fully loaded overland tourer. If you're looking at a GVM upgrade, Pedders have also just released a 3670kg GVM upgrade for the 08/2020+ Isuzu DMAX - for those who need to load up even more or want some extra payload for towing ball weight! Join us as we build the ultimate rig to tour Australia in. Straight after the Build Series, we’re doing a lap of Australia in the new build!

X-SERIES BUILD

Episode 1 of the Borderland Builds Series! The DMAX gets an MRT X-Series Chassis Mount Canopy, complete with a full internal drawer fitout and a 130L upright fridge. Join us as we start the build on our ultimate rig to tour Australia in. Straight after the Build Series, we’re doing a lap of Aus! These canopies matched our touring needs perfectly and we can’t wait to get ours on the road - the MRT crew did an epic job of the setup.
