2026 Ford Ranger Super Duty Revealed

Ford’s latest announcement, the Ranger Super Duty, steps into the spotlight as a testament to Australian engineering and uncompromising strength. Set to arrive in Australia in 2026, this rugged machine carries a name synonymous with Ford’s most robust North American pickups. It’s been given a series of significant upgrades that elevate its performance and capability.

Key Takeaways:

  • Aussie-Engineered Toughness: Built to handle the harshest conditions, the Super Duty is designed with the local market in mind.

  • Enhanced Features: Enjoy a beefed-up chassis, eight-stud wheels, and reinforced differentials that improve towing and off-road performance.

  • Advanced Technology: Integrated onboard scales, larger exterior mirrors, and a full suite of driver assistance systems ensure both safety and convenience.

  • Powerful Performance: A refined 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 engine and a robust 130-litre fuel tank highlight its heavy-duty credentials.

  • Premium Positioning: With pricing expected to start around $100,000 and potentially reach $140,000, it clearly stands apart from standard V6 Ranger models.

The Ford Ranger Super Duty will be available in various configurations – including single-cab two-door, extended-cab, and dual-cab four-door cab/chassis variants – with a more touring-focused XLT model featuring a four-door pickup and cab/chassis layout joining the range later in 2026.

Visually, the Super Duty transforms the familiar Ranger look into something extraordinary with 33-inch General Grabber all-terrain tyres, wider wheel tracks, and increased ground clearance. Its exterior is further enhanced by a Safari snorkel, a striking ‘open-weave mesh’ grille, and a uniquely styled bonnet with chamfered edges proudly displaying the Super Duty badge.

Under the bonnet, the truck is powered by a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 – much like the engine in the standard Ranger but fine-tuned to meet heavy-duty Euro 6.2 emissions standards. Although specific power figures are yet to be revealed, current models deliver approximately 184kW and 600Nm of torque, with the Super Duty expected to match or exceed these numbers thanks to improved cooling and durability.

A standout feature is the larger 130-litre fuel tank – offering an extra 50 litres compared to standard models – safeguarded by a robust steel shield that protects the engine, transmission, front differential, and transfer case. While the traditional 10-speed automatic transmission remains, the two-speed transfer case has been upgraded with larger, more durable components, including a low-range gearset reminiscent of the American F-Series Super Duty.

For the first time on a turbo-diesel Ranger, both front and rear differential locks are included. The front differential borrows technology from the Bronco Raptor, and the rear is reputed to be the strongest ever fitted to a production Ranger. Additional features, such as eight-stud wheel hubs – previously exclusive to the F-Series Super Duty – and a reinforced chassis, significantly boost its towing capacity, now rated at 4500kg braked, with a 4500kg gross vehicle mass (GVM) and an 8000kg gross combined mass (GCM).

Inside, integrated onboard scales work with suspension sensors to display load data on a 12-inch infotainment screen. An optional mounting system on the passenger side can support devices up to 4kg, while larger exterior mirrors provide enhanced visibility. Standard across all models are Ford’s advanced driver assistance systems, including autonomous emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert with braking assist, parking sensors, a surround-view camera, blind-spot monitoring, and forward collision warning.
