The 2026 Isuzu D-Max EV Is Coming
The fully electric Isuzu D-Max has officially been unveiled in production form, making its global debut at the Birmingham Commercial Vehicle Show in the UK. Customer deliveries are expected to begin in March 2026. For Australian buyers, it’s on the radar too—pending final confirmation on the New Vehicle Efficiency Standard (NVES).
At MRT, we’re already planning for its arrival. When the D-Max EV hits Australian roads, we’ll have custom canopy solutions ready, including our Tradesman Package and Explorer Package, tailored to suit this new electric ute.

What’s New Under the Hood?
While the D-Max EV looks much like its diesel sibling, it’s powered by dual electric motors—one on each axle—delivering 140kW and 325Nm combined. The torque is split between the front (108Nm) and rear (217Nm) motors. Though slightly behind the 450Nm of the 3.0L diesel, performance remains solid: 0–100km/h in 10.1 seconds and a top speed of 130+ km/h.
Electric Range & Charging
Thanks to a 66.9kWh underfloor battery, the D-Max EV delivers up to 263km of range (WLTP). It supports DC fast charging up to 50kW, allowing a 20–80% top-up in roughly 60 minutes, or full AC charging at 11kW in 10 hours.
Built for Tough Terrain
The D-Max EV swaps the traditional leaf springs for a DeDion coil-sprung rear setup—improving ride comfort and handling. While ground clearance and wading depth are slightly reduced (210mm and 600mm respectively), the EV retains serious off-road capabilities thanks to its 4WD system and Isuzu’s updated Rough Terrain Mode.
Familiar Look, Electric Heart
On the outside, minor details like EV badges, blue grille highlights, and a CCS charge port distinguish it from diesel models. Inside, it’s business as usual—with comfort features including a 9” infotainment screen, smartphone mirroring, heated seats, and advanced parking sensors.
Coming to Australia? Yes—Eventually.
Isuzu Ute Australia has confirmed its interest in launching multiple electrified options, including mild hybrid (MHEV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV), full EV, and even fuel cell models. Final decisions are pending further guidance from the federal government regarding NVES implementation.
