Terrain: Challenging

Bloomfield Track: This can be challenging. Creek/River Crossings (normally straightforward but can become difficult in wet weather), steep inclines and descents (Donovan’s Range - 20% & Cowie Range - up to 33%), boggy patches and potholes. Not suitable for caravans. Approx. 30km track.

Throughout the remainder of the Daintree: Easy. Sealed Roads.

Bloomfield Track – one of the most scenic 4WD tracks in Queensland. Starting at the town of Wujal Wujal, you will first come across the beautiful Wujal Wujal Falls. Other attractions along the track include the Woobadda Creek Bridge crossing, Cowie Beach and Emmagen Creek. Cross Emmagen creek in your 4WD and ensure to take the short walk up the creek and have a swim. Be sure to swim at the swimming hole only, as crocodiles inhabit the areas further down the creek! Swing off the rope swing into the swimming hole below – you might even get to swim with some turtles.

Morning: Spend the morning at the spectacular Myall Beach – the place where the Daintree Rainforest meets the Great Barrier Reef (the only place in the world where two World Heritage Sites meet!). Experiencing the mountains, lush rainforest, white sand and clear blue waters of the reef all at once is a bucket list experience in our opinion!

Take a short drive to Madja Boardwalk and wander through the beautiful dense lowland rainforest – a 1.2km, grade 1 (easy) walk. Allow about 45 minutes. You will discover lots of unique flora and fauna – it is particularly beautiful at high tide.

Afternoon: Drive to the town of Cow Bay (located halfway between the Daintree River and Cape Tribulation) and take a stroll along the palm lined shore of Cow Bay Beach. Keep an eye out for the rope swings hanging from the palms! This is a great spot to have some afternoon tea – MRT’s in-built pantry always comes in handy when we want to pull up for some food at a beautiful spot like this without much preparation.

Cross the Daintree River on the ferry. The Daintree ferry provides vehicle and foot passenger access across the river, connecting Cape Tribulation and the Daintree (north) with the rest of FNQ. It typically costs approx. $27 (vehicle – one way) and operates between 5am-8pm Sun-Thurs & 5am-midnight Fri-Sat.

Continue on to Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre. This is one of the best spots to experience everything that the Daintree Rainforest has to offer! Catch the courtesy bus to the Gorge entrance to see everything from mountains that rise from the riverbanks of the Gorge, to crystal clear rock pools and unique boulder formations. Not to mention the incredible array of plants and wildlife that inhabit this lush rainforest. We recommend the self-guided walk (a 2.4km circuit track) so you can explore this spot at your own pace.
