Distance: 1,125 km
Coral Bay is 1,125 km and 12 hours north of Perth.

Time to drive: 2 days
We spent two days here which was not long enough. You could easily spend a week in the area exploring all the different beaches and spots!

Terrain: Easy
Easy 4WD - High clearance required. A mix of unsealed roads, slightly rocky terrain and some sand driving.

Morning:
We kicked off the day at Five Fingers Snorkelling area for an hour or so of snorkelling and exploring. From here, we headed back into Coral Bay town for lunch before heading to the next snorkel spot.
Coral Bay and Exmouth contain some of the most accessible reefs in the country, you don’t need a tour or a boat to get to these. You can simply swim a few meters into the ocean and be treated to coral reef teeming with life. There are snorkel hiring options at some of the visitor centres, and all the snorkel spots are clearly marked with boundaries and markers.
Afternoon/ Evening:
We headed towards the Oyster Bridge snorkelling area next, where we were lucky enough to have the whole place to ourselves! It wasn’t as calm and flat as our first spot, with a few more rips, but with better conditions would be fantastic.
To warm up a bit after our chilly swim – we took to sandboarding the dunes, then set up for a picnic to watch the sunset. There are a variety of camping options in the area, with beach camping to the south of Coral Bay, caravan parks in the town, or more remote and rugged options with some of the stations further away.
